Last night while every tech site on the planet was busy filling their front page with sentiments on Steve Jobs’ resignation Apple.com was busy promoting the products Steve made possible. Nowhere on the front page is there any indication of Steve’s absence. Steve Jobs has been on medical leave since January, and Tim Cook has been interim CEO since then. We all knew this day would come, and yet nothing has changed. Apple is stil the creator of the great products we love, and Steve Jobs is still the creator of Apple’s greatest product, the company itself.

The secret to Apple’s success can’t be taken from any keynote bullet point or marketing masthead. It is more understated than that. Stress the details that matter, and disregard the details that don’t. Believe in what you are doing more than anything else, and never settle for less than your best. This is the message Steve Jobs’ leadership delivered, and these values more than any one man will ensure Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are still ahead.
